New infertility hotline
This looks like pretty neat news from across the pond. Infertility Network UK and More To Life now have set up a toll free phone number for people to call and have questions answered about infertility.
I hope that it makes a difference.
Paint solvents and infertility
There may be a connection.
Good Things happening in Quebec
Canada and Quebec Provence in particular are making strides for helping couples with infertility. As the article states, it is mainly because of the Infertility Awareness Association of Canada.
Secondary Infertility – An Overview
The American Chronicle has a good article up about secondary infertility and as usual gives some advice for the couple that is going through this very difficult period.
One interesting statistic from the article is that 25% of all couples going through infertility treatments are suffering from secondary infertility. I would have guessed the number was a lot lower.
New test to measure good eggs remaining
There is a new test on the market that will let women know how many eggs she has left. It costs $350 but there is a down side.
But some fertility experts worry that the sales pitch will capitalize on women’s anxieties and note that the test’s reliability has not been clearly established.
Hmmmm. That is a pretty big down side if you ask me. Would you go and buy a test like this?
Soft IVF continues to make headway
We have talked about this before in a previous post, but it seems that the procedure that is now being called Soft IVF is making more headway in the scientific community. I am in agreement and think that this is the wave of the future since women aren’t injecting themselves full of hormones.
Buried a bit further down in the article was a third ART method that is being worked on in Scotland.
Scottish scientists have found a way of taking pieces of ovary containing immature eggs and maturing them in a lab.
Immature eggs survive the freezing process much better but more research needs to be done to confirm it they’re completely normal and suitable for IVF. If successful, it would benefit women who want to wait until they’re older to have children or those who have had cancer treatment.
That looks interesting, but I’m a little surprised that it doesn’t have anything to do with a deep fried Mars bar.
Stop Theif!
There are a lot of crazies out there in the world, but I can’t for the like of my figure out what the heck this person was thinking. I mean breaking into a sperm back and making an illegal withdrawl?! That is a serious WTF?! moment right there.
It’s also interesting to note that according to the UPI, that this looks to have been an inside job.
