Show+and+Tell+Chalkboard+2

It’s been a while since I’ve done a show and tell (or a post altogether for that matter). I just needed a little inspiration.

I made challah for the holidays today. Along with the usual round ones for Rosh Hashanah, this year I decided to get a little creative with a few of them. This cookbook has an interesting recipe called “Challah Napkin Rings”. Essentially the Challah serves as a napkin ring.

A relative of mine made them years ago and I decided to give it a go. It’s quite an arts and crafts project in itself but the results are beautiful.

How do you prepare – I know around roll – do you put foil and then parchment – how do you get parchment to stay around the roll in the oven – can’t remember how it’s done

Robin – you use a paper towel roll, wrap twice in silver foil, then once in parchment paper and tie it all with a small strip of foil. Tape won’t work in the oven.

Thank you – committed to making them for 25 on Friday since I had been shown once and now I forgot what to do – best temp and time – I’m going to cheat and use predone challah dough – egg yolk glaze only or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated – todah rabah

  15. malky says:

I bake them at 350 (preheated) for 25-30 minutes. If your using predone, you should probably follow the suggestions on the box although maybe a little less time since they are small. Good luck.

OK. I have songs in my head today. Because all I can think here is from Candyman (WIlly Wonk):

You can even eat the dishes!
