Well there are several people here in the shared office space have decided that they should listen out loud to Barak Obama’s speech from last night. This is beginning to piss me off, not because of pollitics but I because I think that when you are in a public area, you should a) not do stuff to annoy those around you and b) don’t bring politics into things. I’m thinking of play some old Nixon speeches just to balance things out.

As I think we all know, six years ago today a tragedy occurred when two hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Centers two main towers thus bringing them down. Well Rudy Giuliani’s website for his presidential campaign has gone dark today aside from a tribute to that day. Other presidental hopefuls have something on their site about it but nothing as stark as what Rudy has done.

Something struck me today

I was looking at the stats for the site this evening since I like to see where people who are visiting the site are coming from and how they are coming to the site. I noticed that SaraS-P’s blog had been sending traffic our way (and thanks for that Sara & btw my sister spells her name the exact same way) and decided to go over and look at the site. Usually, I leave the perusal of infertility blogs to Malky since they reveal a little too much information for my taste (yes, I know I’m a prude) but I was interested in seeing if it was a post or blog roll that was driving the traffic. Anyhoo, I was looking around the site and noticed that Sara and a button on the site that got my attention. The button said “Of all the rights of women, the greatest is being a mother”.

That got me started thinking about something that I had been pondering for awhile. Why is it that something like abortion can be coveredby insurance while it is so difficult to have insurances cover infertility costs unless you have really good insurance. I mean if it’s all about a woman’s right to choose, why is one choice better than the other?

Foreign Oil

A lot of people talk about our dependence on foreign oil and how the war to liberate Iraq may have been a war for oil. But today while reading a thread on Professor Althouse’s blog, I learned who the country is that we are importing the most crude oil actually is. Care to guess? C’mon I dare you!

Well believe it or not, we are importing more crude oil from Canada than from any other country in the world. If we really are invading countries for oil maybe this movie has the right idea…
