Speaking of subjects that I just can’t stop reporting about, here is another story about the “Post Code Lottery” that is going on in the UK. Here is just an example of how widely the rules are being interpreted:
A recent survey carried out by Infertility Network UK found 48% of Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) would not fund treatment if either of the couple had a child by a previous relationship. But, in 33% of cases, PCTs would provide funding if the child did not live with them.
Other variations to the rules include some PCTs only funding treatment for women over 31 and others will not fund treatment if the couple have had any fertility treatment in the past, whether it was on the NHS or private.
This is amazingly inconsistent! I don’t understand what is keeping the NHS from just standardizing on one set of rules…
I know that I probably shouldn’t be posting another article about this subject, but I am drawn to it like a moth to a flame. This story at least has a happy ending.
You may have noticed the new look of the site and be wondering “why the heck did they go ahead and do that?”. Well, to be honest there were some technical limitations to the old look and although it was quite nice, it needed to change in order to foster a feeling of community that we would like around the podcast.
To that end, we are using a plug-in that will allow you to be notified if someone leaves a comment on a post that you commented on. This way when I write something infuriating in the comments you’ll know with out having to check back here.
I have used this feature as a reader on other sites and really enjoy this feature. Please feel free to use it here as well.
This is what the survey had to say about me:
You Are a Canna:
“You stand up for what you believe in, even if it gets in the way of what other people think. You are proud of yourself and your accomplishments and you enjoy letting people know that.”

I was shocked to read Busted Babymaker’s blog today and to find out that she lost her twins at 23 weeks gestation. Please go over to her site and offer some support. This is such terrible, terrible news.
My dad sent this to me a while ago and I think it’s very funny.

Purim starts tonight! Rivky is dressing up as queen esther/bride. She’s wearing one of my old wigs.
Monday morning I got word that my sister was going in for a “C” section. By the afternoon I discovered that I was an uncle again twice over as my sister gave birth to twin girls. They have not been named yet but should be named soon. My sister is a little under the weather right now since she has a fever which she had before she went into the hospital. The babies we 6lbs 7oz and 6lbs 2oz. Here are the first two pictures of the pair.
