The trip so far

Well I made it to Tampa this morning and had my meeting drove about an hour for Kosher food and now have a bad migraine. But for some reason I’m blogging. At this point in my trip I am missing Malky, Rivky and home in general. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to video chat tonight so I’ll feel less homesick. The good news is that I’m going home tomorrow night.

Tomorrow I have one meeting and then lots of time in between the meeting and the flight home. As luck would have it the Pirates are playing a spring training game in the same town that I’ll be in for the meeting so it looks like I may go and watch their opening spring training game. It should be interesting since I have never seen a spring training game before. If I go, I’ll be blogging about the game at my other site The Pittsburgh Lumber Company.

MEME–TEN THINGS YOU’LL NEVER HEAR ME SAY!

I got this meme idea from Karen at Pediascribe, thought I’d give it a try.

This meme is the 10 Things You’ll Never Hear Me Say:

1. One child, that’s more than enough for me!
2. Doctors are so wise and I trust them completely.
3. Aaron, you haven’t gone on a business trip in such a long time.
4. Labor, piece of cake. Don’t know what all you woman are complaining about.
5. I just love washing dishes and changing the garbage.
6. I think I look too thin today.
7. Let’s move to England (or another place it always rains). I love all that rain and fog. It always cheers me right up.
8. Too bad I no longer work in Manhattan. I just miss riding the trains and 10 hour work days so much.
9. What are we going to do with all this extra money. It’s always such a problem.
10. Rivky, I love the creative mess you’ve made today. Let’s never clean it up and just admire it every time we pass it.

I’m tagging Portia P - big congrats on her recent BFP!, Mel, and Kirby.

At LGA

I’m sitting here at the airport, once again waiting for my flight to Miami and then Tampa. At least I’m going somewhere warm this time and not to a place like Milwaukee. I’ll be away for 4 days getting back late Thursday night. Malky will be doing the tireless task of taking care of Rivky all week while I’m gone. I’m sure you will be hearing more from her later on about what is going on at the home front.

Speaking of Rivky, she really took my trip very hard this time. She is usually a lot better when I leave, but this time it was tough. I guess that will happen sometimes. I did buy her a new Nintendo DS game because I was leaving (to rid myself of some guilt and give her something to think of me while I’m gone). It’s the Mario vs. Sonic at the Olympics game and from what Rivky was telling me it sounds like a lot of fun. I think that her and Malky will have fun playing it while I’m away.

One of the good things about my traveling these days is that we can usually see each other thanks to iChat AV. It gives a really good picture and sound quality is there as well. It sure beats just talking on the phone. Well, that’s my opinion anyway.

New on the website

If you are a listener to our podcast, you’ve heard that we are an Amazon affiliate. That means you can buy the stuff that you usually do from Amazon through us and they will give of a percentage of the purchase. It’s a great way to help support the blog and podcast.

Well I have heard from some peeps that they have bought product and we have not been credited for it. To help that along, I have added a new widget to the site which is a search feature that will get you to the item you need quicker. Enjoy using the new functionality.

Natural IVF is on the way

There has been alot of recent talk about minimum stim IVF (we plan to talk about it in an upcoming episode) but now a doctor in England is going a step further with virtually no stim IVF. Check out her method of doing this here.

Cooler Weather, Better Sperm

If this study is correct, we may be moving to the North Pole…

Keeping Cool

I hope that everyone here in the U.S. has been enjoying their President’s Day holiday. It was pretty low key here and I was able to catch up on some of the shows that I have not had the chance to watch over the past few weeks.

Yesterday Rivky and I headed to our local Staples to pick up some more paper and some ink for the printer. While there I came across an excellent product for those of us who constantly are using laptops. As we mentioned on the blog a few months ago, the heat generated from a laptop isn’t good for men and their sperm when the laptop is on a lap, and if you are a woman I can imagine that the heat isn’t too comfortable. Well the Belkin CushTop Notebook Stand takes care of that problem and is quite comfortable on your lap as well. I would highly recommend this to anyone and if you buy it through the link you can get it for cheaper than what I paid for it at Staples.

Episode 37 - The Naked Episode

From the better late than never department comes episode 37. (this was recorded last Monday - sorry for the delay, it’s been a hectic week.) Listen and find out what Chef Gordon Ramsey, the winner of our contest and the news have in common (or not).

And congratulations to our contest winner Sara S-P!

Memories

I decided to be brave and start going through Rivky’s newborn clothing. I figured it’s time to try to sort out what I really want to keep and what I can offer to my sister or give to charity. I thought it would be a very painful job but it was surprisingly bittersweet. Rivky was around when I undertook this project and she had a good time with me reminiscing when she wore each outfit for the first time. Yeah, I have a super strong memory and her baby pics help as well. Rivky got a real kick out of it.

I went to visit my sister today and had 3 bags full to offer her. Whatever she doesn’t like, I’ll donate to charity. I still kept my favorite outfits for hope to one day use them again. I can’t completely give up the dream.

My sister’s doing well but her baby’s starting to cry more. I had just heard on a podcast how newborns start crying more at 2 weeks. My niece is 3 weeks old and we think she’s having her first growth spurt. I was glad to be able to help my sister out a bit and hold the baby while my sister ate lunch. As much as I want another one, the visit sure brought back the memories of how overwhelming it is to care for a newborn 24/7.

3 party babies

Scientists in Britain claim to have created an embryo that contains the genetic DNA of three people. They mixed in some DNA from a third donor that replaces defective genes. The hope is that one day embryo’s can be produced that are free of inherited diseases.

This seems to be the month of all kinds of new ways to make babies. Again, this is only in the beginning stage of development. How would you feel about creating a baby using this method?
