The Knicks and no knack

Yesterday morning I got a call on my mobile from a former co-worker who I still keep in touch with from time to time. It turns out that he had an extra ticket to the Knicks game last night and wanted to know if I was interested in joining the group that was going. After checking with Malky, I rang him back and let him know that I was coming.

The Knicks are absolutely dreadful but they weren’t the real reason that I went, I went to see some old friends and catch up with them.

PTA Day

Today was PTA day for Rivky’s class. It was really supposed to be on Wednesday night and Malky was going to be the one going, but one of the teachers wasn’t able to make it that night so they moved it to this morning. Not the best choice of time but I tried to get there as early as I could. I got there at about 9:25 and that was because trying to find parking was next to impossible. However, I was the second parent there and that made things easier since I didn’t have to wait as long as the parents that arrived after me.

Thank God, the teachers had mostly good things to say about Rivky and how she is in class. There was only one thing that she needed to practice more, but I’ll spare all of you the gory details.

All in all, it was good to meet the teachers and hear what they have to say about Rivky.

Spotted in Manhattan

I had to be in Manhattan one day last week for a few meetings with partners of ours and I had some time in between meetings so I decided to take a little walk. While walking I noticed an interesting ad on the side of a phone booth (I was also amazed that they still have those things around. It’s quite quaint.). I looked down the ad and noticed that it was for about.com and who was it that was staring back at me in a small picture? None other that our listener (and interviewee) Robin Elise Weiss!

Robin, congrats on the new ads. Malky and I hope that it drives lots of traffic to your about.com site.

Challah Therapy

I got a new cookbook for my Birthday from Aaron’s parents with a Challah recipe. Mel from Stirrup Queens talks about how therapeutic bread baking can be. Both these things got me in the mood to make Challah. Not to mention the fact that Aaron and Rivky keep hinting every Shabbos that Mommy’s challah is so much better than the store bought kind. I totally agree with Mel about how therapeutic bread baking can be. When else do you get to see the fruit of your labor like that at the end of the day. It’s also such a nice bonding experience for Rivky and me. She did the braiding of all the little rolls. Way to go Rivky.

Trying to get pregnant? Try the fertility diet

NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - Women trying to get pregnant could boost their chances by adopting a ‘fertility diet’ high in nuts and avocados while cutting down on coffee and alcohol, according to U.S researchers.

Boston-based researchers found the majority of cases of infertility due to ovulation disorders in otherwise healthy women could be prevented through diet and lifestyle changes.
