Decision Reached

Well that didn’t take too long now did it? Not that I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted to get with the $100 gift card that Apple gave me for buying the iPhone before the price drop, but I suggested to Malky that she take a look and see what she might like to get from the store. Not surprisingly, she found some stuff and I ordered it for her yesterday. Amazingly enough, the goods are out for delivery already; and this is with standard delivery!

Oh, what’s that? you want to know what Malky ordered? OK, she got Sennheiser PX 100 Collapsible Headphones and the iPod iSkin for iPod Nano 2G. I am sure that she will be very excited when she gets them today.

Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Shiver me timbers! It be that time of year again.

Star Trek and Federalism

You know that you’re a geek when that is a topic that interests you.

Decisions, Decisions

It’s a good thing that I listen to podcasts because otherwise I would not have known that the $100 store credit plan was official. Why would I have not known you ask? Because the news was released on Friday and that was the second day of Rosh Hashanah and I wasn’t on line again until Saturday night. Well I was washing some dishes this evening and listening to a Mac related podcast and they mentioned that it’s on Apple’s website. So I went over there and got my rebate. It’s not actually a rebate, it’s more like a store credit to either the online or brick and mortar stores.

So the question now is what should I do with this store credit? Buy software, hardware? There is too much to choose from!

The wheel weaves as the wheel wills

Those of us who are fans of the fantasy genre of books are in mourning today. One of the greats in the field passed away yesterday, Robert Jordan (also known by his real name, James Oliver Rigney). He had fought against all odds to try and battling cardiac amyloidosis for over a year.

I first started reading his books several years ago after two friends of mine suggested that I would enjoy them, and enjoy them I did. Despite all of the treatments, Mr. Rigney was still working an hour or two on writing the final book of the World of Time series. Although I may speculate about the final book at a later time, today is not that day.

My condolences to his wife Harriet and the remainder of the Rigney family.

Can you hear me now?

A buddy of mine on IRC pointed this crazy deal out to me this morning and I thought that it was worth passing along to everyone else. It’s for a pair of in canal headphones from Shure, the E2c Sound Isolating Headphones.

They usually sell for $100 but you can buy them now for $40! Here is what my friend pilot518 has to say about them:

I highly recommend the e2c. I use the medium soft silicon ear piece. Many others like the foam inserts. Shure provides you with s,m,l of each so you can find the best fit for you. the noise cancellation is great. ambient noise is a thing of the past. I know shure doesn’t rate the noise cancellation, but it is good. i use mine primarily for lawn mowing (and for drowning out the kids - ab). This is an awesome price..(-$30 with visa)

I’ll be buying myself a pair as well. I can’t wait to try them on the subway.

IVF in the Middle East

Interesting article in the Jerusalem Post from earlier this week:

Fertility experts in Iran, Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Cyprus and Israel have cooperated with a New York reproductive endocrinologist to publish what is reportedly the first-ever collaborative study on in-vitro fertilization services in the Middle East.

A interesting read.

The Missing Episodes

A new listener to the podcast pointed out that there is a problem listening to the first three episodes of the show. While I generally think that this is a good thing given the poor production quality, I do understand that people would like to listen to them. They are available on the website and I thought it would be a good idea to provide links to them so you wouldn’t have to go hunt for them.

I’ll also try to post the links on the side bar as well.
