For the most part I really like Garageband, mainly because the application makes it so easy to put a podcast together and edit/publish it to the web. It’s so easy that I am thinking about starting up another podcast (I’m also looking for a co-host so if you’re interested drop me a line and I’ll tell you the topic). Looks like I’m digressing a bit so let me get back on topic. As much as I love Garageband, there are times when it drives me up a wall and I just had one of those times last night.
Malky and I recorded our podcast Thursday night and as is our custom here, made an m4a version of the raw episode for Malky to listen to as is her wont. Friday I wasn’t able to edit the show since of that work thing and Friday evening was out due to Shabbos. Last night I had in mind to edit and I started to do that when I began to hear things. No, not the voices in my head, this time it was me saying the exact things I just said but fainter and while Malky was saying things as well. As you can imagine, it wouldn’t make for a well produced podcast. The weird thing is, that when Malky listened to the unedited copy, there was none of this problem.
I’m at a complete loss for why this happened. At the suggestion of my dad, I checked the tracks to see if the echo option was check but it was not. There is one other thing that I noticed and I don’t know if this is related to the problem or not. When I opened up the podcast project, some of the tracks were not lined up properly and were ahead a few seconds. I put it back to where it should go and that is when I started hearing myself double.
Anyhow, if you are a Garageband expert and think you have an idea as to why this if occurring, either drop me an email or leave me a comment.
