X-Men 3 thoughts

Yesterday morning I went out with a friend of mine and we saw X-Men 3: The Last Stand. My overall impression of the movie is…. meh. It was a good enough movie but it was missing something. I know what it was missing, how about some continuity with the comics that inspired the movie? They had Jean Gray come back to life as the Phoenix but it was made to be a part of Jean’s psyche as opposed to an totally separate being that took the form of Jean Gray. I also hated the fact that they had some of the X-Men as angst ridden teenagers. There were times during the movie where I thought I was watching Gilmore Mutants or something along those lines.

I don’t mean to dwell on the negatives of the movie, because there were some good parts to the movie as well. I thought that Kelsey Grammer was an inspired choice to be Dr. Henry McCoy a/k/a Beast and I thought that the end scene was great (the one AFTER the credits were over). There may have been others but I can’t think of them now.

Overall, they left the door wide open for a 4th movie and there is going to be a “prequel” movie for Wolverine as well. I think that is what bothered me the most, this movie seemed to be a vehicle for Hugh jackman and Halle Berry as opposed to it being a team oriented movie which is what an X-Men movie should be.

Dashcode

With Apple’s “accidental” release of Dashcode (an IDE for making dashboard widgets) and friend of mine who is a developer quipped that there will lots of crappy widgets coming out soon. I decided to take him on that challenge and have started to build my very own crappy widget that will grab the rss feed from this blog and you can then get the latest and greatest news when you use dashboard. It’s not ready yet, but I hope to have it up over the weekend.

I’m not sure what to make of this

I saw this on PaleoJudaica last night I found in interesting to say the least. According to a report from Arutz Sheva, it seems that Bill Gates is beginning to take up an interest in learning the methodology of studying the Talmud. It seems that even some Microsoft representatives visited a yeahiva in Beni Brak and were offered the option on helping Microsoft in creating a program on the Torah and the Talmud.

What type of application could Microsoft make?

Emotion vs. Logic

Rob Griffiths from MacWorld describes perfectly my dilemma when I think about buying one of Apple’s new MacBooks. Although at this time my decision is the opposite of what Rob finally bought. I decided to get the 2GHz white model with 1GB of RAM.

Rivky on her bike

53 Here is a quick photo that I took over Passover of Rivky on her new bike. Many thanks to TJ for finding, installing and configuring the plug-in that allows WordPress and Gallery to play nicely.

Welcoming a new blog

While in Miami last week we got to spend the weekend with my wife’s sister, husband and kids. My brother in law has a few websites to help sell his merchandise. One of the things that he wanted to do is drive more traffic to his site, so I gave him a few suggestions and one thing led to another and we got to the subject of blogs, he decided to create his own blog. So it is with great pleasure that I welcome it to the blogoshpere.

Interesting

and we here in the US thought that we had problems with our sports leagues. Italy seems to be a lot worse off right now.

Airport blogging

Well I am here at JFK in the American Airlines terminals waiting for my flight to Miami. While I am still going to be attending (and exhibiting) at a conference, this one will be a little different becasue Malky and Rivky will be joining me on this trip since they can visit Malky’s sister who lives in the area. It also helps since the conference doesn’t end until late Friday afternoon and the family can be together for Shabbos, albeit not in Brooklyn as is usual. Malky and Rivky will be flying out a little later today and I’ll be meeting them at the hotel after I am finished witht he set up and the welcoming reception.

The terminals here for American Airlines are really confusing. I started out at one terminal where I checked my bags and was then told that I had to walk al the way to their other terminal. I need to find out if the Miami flights are at the same terminal and then let Malky know where to go she she and Rivky don’t have to walk so much.

Because we are going to be away on Mother’s day, I decided to get Malky her gift early so she could enjoy it while she is on the flights/ Rivky and I got her a 1GB iPod Nano and she is enjoying it greatly. I also got her hooked onto podcasts, which she really likes.

OK, so maybe today wasn’t the day.

Looks like the rumor sites were wrong.
